Behavioral Health Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides support and assistance to Providers and their patients without engaging in extended specialty mental health care. Makes recommendations to Provider relative to psychological intervention strategies and conducts follow-up consultations to reinforce Provider generated interventions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides support and assistance to Providers and their patients, related to behavioral health issues. Makes recommendations to Providers relative to psychological intervention strategies and conducts follow-up consultations to reinforce behavioral health interventions.

2. Performs assessment and triage of patients by conducting a brief screening visit.

3. Conducts group classes to promote skill building or education

4.  Completes all assigned tasks as scheduled.

5.  Monitors and reports consumers? behavior.

6.  Assists staff with recreational programs offered to consumers.

7. Keeps unit safe, clean and comfortable for both consumers and staff.

8.  Works with the unit for compliance of safety issues and infection control.

9.  The employee must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.  The employee shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

10.  Provides customer service to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

11. Participates in the Performance Improvement Processes of The Guidance Center.

12. Willingness to learn.

13. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Arizona fingerprint/certified or ability to obtain certification
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License and ability to obtain TGC Drivers Card.
