QI Director

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will develop, implement and monitor a system-wide Quality Improvement Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining agency wide Joint Commission accreditation and Medicare certification. In addition, this position will oversee the Quality Management functions of the organization in accordance with DBHS/NARBHA and CMS standards within the framework of the Plan, Do, Check, Act model of continuous quality improvement. The Quality Improvement Director will be responsible for the development of policies and procedures and will develop and implement an annual Quality Improvement Program Plan and annual program evaluation. The Quality Improvement Director will chair the Corporate Quality Improvement Committee and coordinate with the chairs of its subcommittees. This individual will serve a vital role on the TGC Leadership Team and prepare quarterly QI reports for the TGC Board of Directors. This position is also responsible for delivering staff education and training on quality related topics and assisting program directors with the development of quality initiatives and monitoring activities. This position evaluates staff resource allocation and monitors the program budget.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Supervises Quality Improvement staff, and conducts recruiting, interviewing, selection and evaluation of assigned staff.
  • Supervises the process for chart audits, monitoring and Performance Improvement projects to include standards of care from all regulatory bodies (CMS, AHCCCS, ADHS, The Joint Commission, and contracted Health Plans).
  • Acts as the point person for coordination of audits and surveys performed by external governing agencies.
  • Acts as the point person for coordinating and monitoring Corrective Actions issued by external governing agencies.
  • Develops and monitors the Quality and Performance Improvement Annual Plan.
  • Conducts an annual QI Program Evaluation, incorporating monitoring and activities of the QI subcommittees.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures specific to QI related functions and responsibilities.
  • Educates staff on Quality Improvement activities and processes.
  • Chairs the Quality Management Committee.
  • Serves as an active member of the Leadership Team.
  • The employee must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. The employee shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Evaluates/monitors standards of performance.
  • Collects and reports on quality improvement data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position is 100% onsite/TGC campus, in the state of Arizona.
  • This position is categorized as essential staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Master's degree in health care administration or related human services field.
  • 2-3 years of managerial experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Quality Improvement related activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of accepted medical records practices, including medical records ethics, classification, and nomenclature. (Knowledge and experience with ICD-9-CM coding encouraged.)
  • Must possess strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff in duties that ensure quality patient care.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid AZ driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 3-years in Arizona Behavioral Health System.
  • CPHQ certification
