POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides support and assistance to Providers and their patients without engaging in extended specialty mental health care. Makes recommendations to Provider relative to psychological intervention strategies and conducts follow-up consultations to reinforce Provider generated interventions.


ONE Full time and ONE PRN Position available. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides support and assistance to Providers and their patients, related to behavioral health issues. Makes recommendations to Providers relative to psychological intervention strategies and conducts follow-up consultations to reinforce behavioral health interventions.

2. Performs assessment and triage of patients by conducting a brief screening visit.

3. Conducts group classes to promote skill building or education

4.  Completes all assigned tasks as scheduled.

5.  Monitors and reports consumers? behavior.

6.  Assists staff with recreational programs offered to consumers.

7. Keeps unit safe, clean and comfortable for both consumers and staff.

8.  Works with the unit for compliance of safety issues and infection control.

9.  The employee must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.  The employee shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

10.  Provides customer service to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

11. Participates in the Performance Improvement Processes of The Guidance Center.

12. Willingness to learn.

13. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Arizona fingerprint/certified or ability to obtain certification
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License and ability to obtain TGC Drivers Card.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Specialist is an integral part of the team for the SARRP (Substance Abuse Residential Recovery Program) or SMI Inverrary House, providing consumer and staff safety and therapeutic interactions with consumers. The Behavioral Health Specialist assists with the daily operations of the unit meeting the needs of consumers.  The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for contributing to and creating a recovery based environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides support and assistance to meet consumer needs including helping with ADLS (activity of daily living) as needed.
  • Responds to psychiatric codes and intervenes pro-actively using de-escalation techniques including the least restrictive interventions appropriate for the situation.
  • Conducts and documents group classes to promote skill building or education.
  • Performs assessment and triage of patients by conducting a brief screening visit. (SARRP only)
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors and reports behavior of consumers to the treatment team.
  • Keeps unit safe, clean and comfortable for both consumers and staff.
  • Works with the unit for compliance of safety issues and infection control.
  • Works well under pressure, and able to work well with high acuity consumers and effectively de-escalate situation when needed.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments and outings.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all consumers.
  • Ensure compliance and adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and/or department.
  • Completes all required training within the required time frames.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience working in behavioral health, education, human services or caregiving; or other combination of education and experience, approved by HR
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain an Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver License with ability to pass TGC driver background screening
  • Reliability and schedule flexibility
