The Guidance Center is a not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center with locations serving Flagstaff, Williams, and surrounding Northern Arizona communities. We provide a full range of services, which include everything from general mental health counseling for everyday stressors, to our inpatient psychiatric hospital for acute psychiatric emergencies. We provide care to all ages, from birth and up. Our Birth-5 team specializes in infant development and bonding. Case managers, therapists, program supports and peer supports work together to provide individualized care to children, families and adults.


The primary function of this position is to provide therapeutic services to members. Maintains core values of integrity and ethical practice, professionalism, kindness, effective communication, and excellence in customer service.


1. May provides services such as: intake, crisis or updated assessment, individual and/or group therapy, case management, psychoeducational services, family support, life skills training, health promotion, transportation, and others as defined by the plan of care (treatment plan).

2. Uses recovery-oriented, person-first language in all interactions, with a strong understanding and ability to demonstrate excellence in customer service.

3. Provides timely, professional and kind customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

4. Collaborates for coordination of care with internal and external providers and community partners such as law enforcement, schools, etc.

5. Participates in interdisciplinary case consultation, provides timely and effective feedback to co-workers regarding care and clinical documentation.

6. Facilitates treatment team meetings, makes appropriate referrals and assists members in finding resources.

7. Meets and sustains productivity standards and completes documentation concurrently or on the same business day and reviews progress and/or barriers in supervision.

8. Understands the business operations needs of the assigned department and agency related to hours of work.

9. Participates in the Quality Improvement processes of the agency when requested and available.

10. Completes all TGC required training timely.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Based on the assigned department, additional duties or prioritized focus in the following areas will apply to the position:

Adult, Assertive Community Treatment, Tribal or Child & Family Services

1. Writes, updates, reviews and/or approves assessments and interdisciplinary care (treatment) plans.

2. Provides both individual and group therapy according to member and departmental needs.

3. Monitors progress of a member or family toward care objectives and discusses outcomes with supervisor(s).

4. Manages a caseload size and/or scheduling flexibility consistent with the acuity of those served and coordinates care for all assigned members, both with internal and external interdisciplinary team members.

5. Provides services at clinic and in community in locations such as member homes, schools, hospitals, detention centers, etc.

Assessment Services (Intake & Crisis)

1. Focuses on the completion of agency intake assessments, crisis screenings and evaluations, crisis prevention & safety plans.

2. Formulates and initiates case presentations to medical practitioners for individuals meeting admission criteria for stabilization or hospitalization.

3. Ensures complete connections to an individual's next service.

4. May provide short-term support sessions to individuals awaiting connection to other outpatient programs.

5. Provides services at clinic and in community in locations such as member homes, schools, hospitals, detention centers, etc.

6. Remains open to the scheduling needs of coverage in a 24-hour unit.



Master's Degree in a behavioral health or social service related field

Eligible to pursue associate and/or independent licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners

Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

Current Driver License with no restrictions; must be willing to provide member transport to and/or from TGC or community appointments when needed

Must be at least 21 years of age


Possess AZ associate or independent license in behavioral health or social service related field

Knowledge of available community resources in Northern Arizona

Experience working with Electronic Health/Medical Record systems
